HOUSING

The four original on-campus buildings—Dykstra, Rieber, Hedrick, and Sproul—offer a high-rise living experience with double and triple room types, community bathrooms, and study lounges on every floor. Despite lacking air conditioning, these halls stay cooler thanks to ocean breezes, and they feature ground-floor laundry rooms and large social lounges for student programs.

The plaza buildings on campus, including De Neve, Sunset Village, Rieber Terrace, Rieber Vista, and Hedrick Summit, offer a mix of private and shared bathroom options. They feature study lounges, social spaces, and community amenities like laundry rooms, with De Neve and Sunset Village offering smaller courtyard-style buildings, while Rieber and Hedrick provide a high-rise experience.

UCLA owns and operates thirteen off-campus apartment complexes reserved for upper-division undergraduate and first-year transfer students, all located within walking distance of campus and Westwood Village. These University Apartments provide fully furnished units, including appliances and extra-long twin beds, and the housing contract covers utilities, basic cable TV, and high-speed internet at no extra charge. Each building features a centralized mail room, and while pets are not permitted, approved emotional support and service animals are accommodated to meet students’ needs.

The deluxe halls on campus resemble the classic high-rise buildings, featuring community bathrooms with multiple stalls, sinks, and showers, as well as study lounges on every floor. These buildings—Sproul Cove, Sproul Landing, Holly, Gardenia, Olympic, and Centennial—also include ground-floor laundry rooms and large social lounges for year-round programs.

Hitch and Saxon are unique suite-style buildings, recently renovated to include more social and study spaces, as well as community laundry rooms. Each suite features a shared living room, two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, and standard furnishings, while the surrounding trees and ocean breezes provide natural cooling and shade.
